DIY Pumpkin Mask

’tis the season to use harvest foods for your precious skin.

This stuff feels and smells as good as it looks. I finally tried this DIY mask and was pleased with the results. This concoction consisted of organic canned pumpkin, organic honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon. My skin felt clean, fresh, and hopefully by using this twice a week, will help brighten my complexion. Best of all, I love that amazing smell of pumpkin pie… on my face!

Beneficial Ingredient Breakdown

Pumpkin - Known for it’s fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids, pumpkin is known to be beneficial to the skin by brightening and smoothing as well as increasing cell turnover. Pumpkin is also loaded with Vitamin A and C, which helps boost collagen production and prevent signs of aging. Ideal for dull and acne prone skin.

Cinnamon - Ground cinnamon helps bring blood to the surface of the skin, causing a more plump appearance. This is also beneficial to acne prone skin as well.

Honey - Honey is a natural antioxidant and anti-microbial which means it helps protect the skin from sun damage and other harmful pollutants that affect dull and dry. Honey is also known to treat acne, promotes healing wounds, and moisturizes skin by creating a natural barrier against the skin.

Lemon Juice - This mildly acidic juice is known to diminish scars and age spots. This helps prevent acne as well as heal acne scars and even minimize blackheads.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Organic Canned Pumpkin (Fresh pumpkin is welcome!)
  • Organic honey (If you really want to be fancy, use Manuka Honey)
  • Freshly squeed lemon juice
  • Ground cinnamon

Take a dollop of pumpkin and place in a small, microwaveable bowl. Heat it for about 10 seconds until it’s warm. Use a small spatula or fork and mix in about 1 tblsp of honey, 1 tsp of lemon juice, and 1 tsp of cinnamon. Mix well and apply to freshly washed face. Beauty tip: I find it more effective applying masks post shower or when your skin has had a chance for the pores to open up.
Keep this mask on for about 15 minutes and gently rinse with warm water. I like to use the “chunks” to gently exfoliate my skin as well.

There’s always something classic about layering a shirt under a thick cable sweater. In my case, the sweater was part of my mom’s closet back in the day. I love the warmth and fit of the cable sweater. The gold Ralph Lauren embroidered logo adds such a classic touch too.

I know that the true meaning of vintage means that it’s supposed to be secondhand clothing from the 1920′s to the 1960′s but my definition of vintage is the hand-me-downs from my mama-rhee. She had such amazing style decades ago (and she still does now) so looking through her pile of idea of “junk” has become my treasure. The best part of wearing her oldies like the Hauber sweater she purchased from the 80′s, is when I actually receive compliments. Thanks mom!

Forever 21 has some adorbe hair accessories like beaded hair bands, bow pins, and other chain, metallic, sequin details for under $10 !! It starts to get difficult trying to show off your necklaces and bracelets when you’re layered up in the winter. What better way than to top off your outfit with some cuteness? Check them out here.

Besides lusting for shoes, I have a list of fashion accessories I love to collect and hats are one of them. Growing up, I had this rule that everything I wore must match from scrunchy to socks. Since scrunchies have become a faux pas, what better way to freshen up my wavy hairstyle with a hat?
